From Resilience to Co-Creation: Global Buyers Gather in Taichung for High-Volume Sourcing

TAICHUNG, Taiwan — October 20, 2026 — Co-organized by the Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers’ Association (THTMA) and Lanza International Co., Ltd., the 2026 Taiwan International Tools & Hardware Expo x International Hardware Expo Taiwan (TiTE x IHT) grandly opened today at the Taichung International Convention & Exhibition Center (TICEC) and will run through October 22. Building upon last year’s theme, “Team Taiwan: Building New Resilience for Taiwan Manufacturing,” this year’s event adopts the theme “TEAM TAIWAN: From Manufacturing to Co-Creation | AI Empowerment & Smart Upgrading.” This reflects the evolution of Taiwan’s hardware industry from a stable supply base to a new phase of co-developing next-generation products with global partners. President Lai Ching-te attended the opening ceremony once again, joining industry leaders to witness Taiwan’s hardware sector advance from resilience to co-creation.

Despite shifting tariffs and global market uncertainties, the exhibition expanded against the trend. A total of 450 exhibiting companies filled over 1,000 booths—representing a booth growth of more than 25% over last year—expanding across two exhibition floors. The opening day drew over 10,000 attendee visits, with brisk business negotiations spanning all show zones. Following an active overseas promotional campaign across six major international trade fairs in Europe and Asia, the organizers invited over 100 hosted international buyers, setting a new show record. Prominent buyers include global tool brands such as Stanley Black & Decker, Snap-on, and Würth, alongside leading home improvement retailers including Leroy Merlin, Kingfisher, OBI, and Ace Hardware, accompanied by over 25 international trade media representatives on-site.

From “Kingdom of Hand Tools” to Smart Manufacturing Benchmark: President Lai Witnesses Industry Advancement

Last year, TiTE x IHT served as the inaugural trade exhibition at the newly opened TICEC. During his address, President Lai Ching-te commended Taiwan’s hand tool and hardware component manufacturers for winning global trust through “high quality, high resilience, and fast delivery,” describing them as a crucial cornerstone of SME exports and encouraging Taiwan to evolve from a “Kingdom of Hand Tools” into a new international benchmark for smart manufacturing. Returning one year later to a significantly expanded show, President Lai recognized the industry’s continued resilience amidst tariff adjustments, exchange rate fluctuations, and supply chain realignments. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting SMEs in adopting AI, smart manufacturing, and low-carbon transformations—enabling Taiwan to transition from “Made in Taiwan” to co-creating value with the world.

The opening ceremony commenced with a special presentation featuring visiting Australian firefighters from the Australian Firefighters Calendar, who took the stage holding Taiwan-made tools to demonstrate their performance. In life-saving emergency rescue operations where every second counts, reliable tools are paramount. From disaster response and rescue to civic infrastructure maintenance, reliable tools and local manufacturing capacity represent a vital link in whole-of-society defense resilience and national security. Through this demonstration, the value of Taiwan’s hardware industry extended beyond export competitiveness to encompass societal protection. President Lai subsequently joined key dignitaries for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including Legislators Ho Hsin-tsun and Yang Chiung-ying, Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Ho Chin-tsang, TAITRA Secretary-General Wang Hsi-mong, Director-General of Taichung City Bureau of Economic Development Chang Feng-yuan, China Steel Corporation Chairman Huang Chien-chih, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) Chairman Wu Cho-chun, Vice Chairperson of Japan DIY-HC Association Terutaka Takeda, and Trade and Investment Commissioner for Queensland Taiwan Juna Ferrett. Following the ceremony, President Lai toured the exhibition halls and interacted with exhibitors.

Eight Specialized Zones Connect Full Supply Chain: Taiwan Manufacturing as a Trusted Partner

This year’s exhibition features eight specialized zones: Tools & Accessories, Metalworking Processes & Equipment, Plant Equipment & Industrial Safety, Automotive Repair & EV Applications, Fasteners, Gardening, Agriculture & Outdoor, Building & Home Improvement, and Smart Manufacturing & Automation. Ranging from hand tools, torque tools, and testing equipment to fasteners, metal processing, automotive service machinery, EV equipment, and automated warehouse applications, the show comprehensively demonstrates the depth and breadth of Taiwan’s hardware supply chain.

Hsieh Wu-chi, Chairman of THTMA, and Andrew Liu, General Manager of Lanza International, emphasized that global brands require more than factories capable of consistent delivery—they seek long-term partners for joint R&D and product co-creation. Central Taiwan’s industrial cluster connects the entire supply chain from raw materials, forging, and heat treatment to precision machining within minutes of the venue. Buyers can evaluate specifications on the exhibition floor in the morning and conduct factory audits in the afternoon, substantially shortening vendor evaluation cycles. The organizers will continue integrating buyer invitations, business matchmaking, and factory visits to highlight Taiwan Manufacturing as the world’s most trusted partner.
