Q. Being the key player in the industry, Please brief us company’s journey from inception & share some of the milestones achieved?
With my background with Emerson Process and Emerson Network I started this company in 2001 The focus was on Automation in Process industry. We found that the scope of automation is in Process as well as Factory Automation.
Market research indicated that SCADA applications are in all the industries whether in Machine automation or in Process automation. We identified few right companies in the world in the field of SCADA and signed an agreement with Indusoft Web Studio, a company from Austin, Texas USA. We were also distributors for other software companies in process control software. The whole idea was to promote the “ Open System Architecture” concept for DCS and PLC
Q. Please brief us about company’s infrastructure & what are the technology alliances that has been made in order to out-front the competition?
Control and Solutions is a group company. The group company has diversified activities and it is a group of Twenty two companies. We have offices in Mumbai and Bangalore. The group company has offices all over India.
We have Technology alliances with Indusoft – USA and we are channel partners with Mitsubishi (India). We have a very good combination of hardware and the software for the kind of application, we are working in Industry.
Q. what are the products manufactured by your company?
We do not manufacture any products. We are the System Integrators, integrating hardware and software for different applications. We develop complete project for different applications, integrate with hardware then commission the system and handover.
Q. What is your marketing strategy for India?
We work with end customers, EPCs and OEMs for different applications for process and factory automation. We don’t sell the products but we sell solutions for different application. Our strategy is not being only with one vertical as such you will find our large applications in different industries. Customer accepts our solutions based on our track record and experience.
Q. Product innovation through R&D is vital to be a leader in the competition, as per your opinion, how does R&D plays the role of catalyst in the success process?
Manufacturing processes continue to get better at producing data-primarily due to rapid cost reductions and improvements in data collection, communication, and storage technologies. The challenge, however, is that the ability to exploit this data for meaningful operational benefits is not keeping pace.
We consistently work on how to use this data for Business Intelligence, Business Analytics for improving the performance of the process.
There is real potential to use manufacturing data to improve process yields, asset performance optimization, and operational equipment efficiency, and to meet other needs.
Furthermore, increasing investments in research and development, entry of new market players to provide innovative SCADA solutions, government support to adopt SCADA solutions among industries are a few fuelling factors of the market growth, where we focus.
Q. Quality standards are benchmarked by the product performance; please brief us how do you maintain the quality norms since from solution development to implementation?
To maintain the Quality standard is our Mission :
We believe in rigorous planning at the outset of every project with critical assessment and provide our clients, detail blueprints and actionable development plans. CSIL’s unique, simple approach enables to lead clients through a clear, objective process of definition, and to serve as trusted advisors through all aspects of the implementation process
Controlling the quality of the project during the development phase is the process of analysis, control, management of factors and variables that affect the quality of the final product. This is continuous process.
Q. According you what are the factors affecting to your business?
Industry requires cost effective solutions for the complex problems. They require very fast turnaround of the job, which becomes difficult many times. The decision making process is slow. We need to updated the customers of the recent technology for the benefit of industry.
Q. What are the key technological trends that are driving the industry?
Modern SCADA should provide more than just process visualization. They must connect people, applications, and machines for greater collaboration, efficiency, and economy.
The key to technological trends is to choose an effective SCADA software solution, which involves thinking through the full lifecycle of your process. How will you maintain it if talent leaves? How easy is it to update? Can you add new hardware or change older components when necessary? If an operating system becomes obsolete, will you need to redevelop your application? Can it keep up with technology and enable you to include new capabilities such as remote connectivity, IoT architectures, and communicate with data stored in the cloud?
Q. How do you perceive the future of the industry?
According to a new market report published by Transparency Market Research “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Market – Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast, 2014-2020,” the market is expected to reach USD 32.70 billion by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 5.0 per cent from 2014 to 2020.
Moreover, demand for reliable power distribution and transmission among different industries, rising demand for SCADA systems in oil & gas industry and increase in infrastructure investments in emerging markets of Asia Pacific for efficient oil extraction are likely to accelerate the growth of supervisory control and data acquisition market during the forecast period, i.e., from 2014 to 2020.
The global SCADA market, by application, is divided into ten application segments: electrical power, oil & gas, water & wastewater, manufacturing, transportation, telecommunication, chemicals, food & beverages, pharmaceuticals and others.
Countries like India and China are improving their infrastructure to curb power distribution and transmission losses. SCADA systems can store historical data for trend analysis and reduce manual labor by remotely locating affected sections.
Q. What is your vision for your company for near future?
Staying competitive means constantly finding ways to operate faster and leaner. The pressure is always on, to increase productivity, efficiency, agility, quality and profitability, all while minimizing costs. Our SCADA software offers a winning strategy for meeting the complex demands of your current requirements along with the flexibility to need for rapid change and expansion.
Our vision is to use the capabilities of SCADA software for Business Intelligence and Business Analytics and integration of OT with IT. This will make the Enterprise management most effective.
We want to help our customers to protect his investment in our software. We provide backward compatibly for our SCADA solutions. When we update your software to take advantage of the latest capabilities and security features, you won’t have to worry about losing your development investment.
