Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), a leader in fluid management solutions, has inaugurated a new factory building at its Kaniyur Manufacturing Facility in Tamil Nadu. This expansion marks 100 years since KBL manufactured and installed India’s first centrifugal pump in 1926.

The new facility is designed to enhance productivity and operational efficiency, enabling KBL to meet growing domestic and global demand while maintaining high quality standards.

A significant highlight of the facility is its commitment to sustainability. Approximately 80% of its electricity requirements are met through renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions by 122.5 tCO₂e and cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 89%. The solar power installation is also expected to generate annual savings of approximately INR 21.64 lakh.

This expansion coincides with KBL’s recent order to supply 14,000 pumps for petroleum applications. With its ATEX-certified submersible turbine pumps, KBL is now competing directly with global players in the retail petroleum market.

For over 138 years, KBL has been a critical contributor to India’s irrigation, power, water supply, and infrastructure projects. This latest development underscores the company’s ongoing focus on manufacturing excellence and strategic growth.
